From Kuala Lumpur by car
The usual route is the Karak Expressway (E8) towards Bentong, followed by the state road that climbs to Bukit Tinggi. Expect around 1 to 1½ hours from central Kuala Lumpur, depending on traffic and weather.
Fuel up and eat before the climb; options up top are limited and tend to cost more. Save an offline map because data coverage can drop out around certain bends.
From KLIA
The simplest option is a taxi or e-hailing ride straight to Berjaya Hills. To cut costs, take the KLIA Ekspres or transit service to KL Sentral, then continue by e-hailing to Bukit Tinggi or to the resort shuttle departure point in Kuala Lumpur.
If your flight lands late at night, consider staying overnight in Bentong or Kuala Lumpur and driving up the next morning — the hill road is far easier to navigate in daylight.
Bus & shuttle
No public bus stops directly at the garden entrance. Two realistic options are the resort shuttle (booking ahead is strongly advised) or an express bus to Bentong followed by a taxi/e-hailing ride to Bukit Tinggi.
If you use the shuttle, confirm the return timing on the same day. Services here are limited, and missing the last shuttle can force you to arrange other transport at a higher cost.
Taxi / e-hailing & the return trip
Grab, a taxi or a chartered driver works well from Kuala Lumpur, Bentong or Genting. Driver availability for the return trip from the hills, however, can be inconsistent, especially after heavy rain.
Arrange a pick-up time in advance or keep the number of the driver who brought you up. Many visitors share a vehicle with other travellers to cut both cost and waiting time.
- • Check phone coverage before relying on an e-hailing app.
- • Plan to head down before dusk if you want to avoid driving in the dark.
- • Keep a Bentong local taxi number as a backup.
From Genting Highlands & Colmar Tropicale
From Colmar Tropicale, the Japanese Village is only about five minutes away by car or shuttle — the easiest option if you are already inside Berjaya Hills.
From Genting Highlands, the hill route takes roughly 30–45 minutes. Pair both attractions in one day if you are staying overnight in the highlands.
Common questions before the climb.
Does any public bus stop at the Taman Jepun entrance?+
No public bus service stops at the garden entrance. Your options are the resort shuttle, a bus to Bentong followed by taxi/e-hailing, or your own vehicle.
How long is the drive from Kuala Lumpur to Taman Jepun?+
Around 1 to 1½ hours by car via the Karak Expressway, depending on traffic, weather and how often you stop. Add more time if you travel on a weekend or during a holiday season.
Is it safe to drive down after heavy rain?+
The hill road can be slippery and foggy after heavy rain. Drive slowly, keep your lights on and, if visibility drops too low, stop in a safe area before continuing.
